Karen Evans

Karen E. Evans is a trial attorney at The Cochran Firm DC and a former registered nurse, combining over 28 years of legal experience with a clinical background in medical-surgical and intensive care nursing. Since 2000, she has focused on catastrophic personal injury and medical malpractice cases for individuals and families, successfully trying and settling matters in the seven and eight-figure ranges. Before law school she was a Captain in the United States Air Force Nurse Corps. She began her legal education at Texas Tech University School of Law, transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and earned her J.D. in 1990.

She has been consistently recognized by Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Lawyers, holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers. She is the current President of the National Black Lawyers Top 100, a past president of the Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan Washington DC, and a past president of the Washington Bar Association. She is a member of the DC Bar Board of Governors and a Director on the Council for Court Excellence.
