About Daniel Downes

Daniel J. Downes is of counsel to Cavanagh Sorich Law Group and brings nearly 50 years of experience representing railroad workers in Federal Employers' Liability Act (FELA) cases. Before entering the law, he served as a Chicago police detective. He earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1972 and is admitted in Illinois (1973), Minnesota (1981), and Nebraska (1982), and before the U.S. Supreme Court. Downes serves as designated legal counsel for multiple rail worker unions including ATDA, BRS, and SMART TD, and handles railroad injury cases, Railroad Retirement matters, OSHA claims, and whistleblower protection cases under the Federal Railroad Safety Act across the country.
