Michael Sorich

Michael J. Sorich is a partner at Cavanagh Sorich Law Group with more than two decades of trial experience. Before joining the firm in 2016, he served 13 years in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, where he tried more than 50 jury trials in state and federal court and argued multiple cases before the Illinois Appellate Court. Sorich is admitted in Illinois and Florida and before the U.S. Supreme Court. He obtained his J.D. cum laude from UIC John Marshall Law School in 2003 and his B.A. in Accounting from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2000.

Since joining the firm he has secured more than $300 million in verdicts and settlements for injured clients. He has been named to the Illinois Super Lawyers list, the National Trial Lawyers Top 100, the Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers, and is a Leading Lawyer in Illinois, a distinction held by fewer than five percent of Illinois attorneys. His notable results include the $104 million Cook County toll highway verdict in 2025 and a $50 million FELA railroad settlement in 2024.
