About E. Michael Moran

E. Michael Moran is a principal at Law & Moran, Attorneys at Law, which he joined in 2004. He earned a B.S. from Georgia Southern College in 1987 and his J.D. Magna Cum Laude from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School in 1997, where he served as Chief Justice of the Honor Court and received the Eugene D. and Betty Howe Vezzani Award for Excellence in Constitutional Law as well as the Academic Dean's Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement. After graduation he practiced appellate law and commercial litigation before shifting in 2001 to an exclusive focus on personal injury representation. His practice is limited to catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, including automobile accidents, trucking accidents, premises liability, negligent security, and product liability matters.

Moran served as trial counsel alongside Peter Law and Denise Hoying on the 2019 DeKalb County Kroger negligent-security verdict, which produced a gross jury award of $81 million. He has tried cases to verdict in federal and state courts in Georgia and multiple other states and has argued before federal and state appellate courts. Moran has been selected to Georgia Super Lawyers from 2023 through 2027.

A DeKalb County jury awarded $81 million in total damages to LaQuan Taylor, a Navy veteran shot at least 11 times during a robbery in a Kroger parking lot. After apportioning 14 percent of the fault to the two assailants, the judgment against Kroger came to $69,660,000.
