About Bradley Lakin

Bradley M. Lakin is a founding partner of SL Chapman LLC and has practiced civil litigation since 1997. He earned his B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1992 and his J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1997. Lakin concentrates his practice on complex litigation, nursing home abuse, personal injury, product liability, mass tort, Jones Act maritime claims, and railroad FELA injuries. He has tried cases to verdict in Arizona, Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, and West Virginia.

Lakin has been recognized as a Super Lawyer and was named one of 40 Illinois Lawyers Under Forty to Watch in 2006. He has been a member of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers list. His mass tort work includes litigation involving Roundup, Zantac, and 3M Earplug products.

A federal jury in St. Louis awarded Teddy and Melanie Scott $46.75 million after a nitrogen oxide gas cloud from Dyno Nobel's nitric acid plant in Louisiana, Missouri engulfed Teddy at a neighboring worksite. In 2024 the Eighth Circuit affirmed liability and all $16.75 million in compensatory damages but reversed the $30 million punitive award.
