Robert Schmieder

Robert W. Schmieder II is the managing attorney at SL Chapman LLC. He earned his B.A. from Northwestern University in 1993 and his J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1996. Before joining the plaintiffs' bar, Schmieder was a partner at Sonnenschein Nath and Rosenthal LLP (now Dentons), where he practiced defense litigation. He moved to plaintiff-side work in 2005 and has since recovered more than $180 million for clients and class members.

His practice focuses on complex litigation including catastrophic personal injury, product liability, class actions, mass torts, and commercial disputes in state and federal courts, including before the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation. Schmieder holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and is a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He has been named a Super Lawyer and has authored multiple law journal articles on class actions, product liability, FELA, and workers' compensation.
