Michael Baum

Michael L. Baum is a senior partner of Wisner Baum and was the managing partner of predecessor firm Baum Hedlund for 29 years before handing the reins to R. Brent Wisner at the start of 2023. Under his leadership the firm grew from a small boutique into one of the nation's leading plaintiffs' litigation firms, winning billions in consumer fraud and product liability cases against companies including Bayer (Monsanto), Eli Lilly, GlaxoSmithKline, and Pfizer. Michael served on the trial teams for all three Roundup cancer verdicts, including the $289.2 million Johnson verdict and the $2.055 billion Pilliod verdict, and helped publish the Monsanto Papers. His work in the antidepressant litigation helped bring about the black box suicidality warning on most antidepressant labels, and his mass disaster experience runs from the Dupont Plaza Hotel fire to the United 232 and USAir crashes and the 2018 Woolsey Fire. He earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 1985.
