About James Carraway

James Carraway is a Senior Trial Attorney at Gomez Trial Attorneys in San Diego, where he represents plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury cases. Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, James attended Hawaii Pacific University on a full sports and academic scholarship for baseball, earning a degree in Political Science.

James earned his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law, where he won the Distinguished Advocate Award, competed nationally on the trial team, and won the San Diego Defense Lawyers Trial Competition. After law school he joined the San Diego City Attorney's Office as a Deputy City Attorney, where he prosecuted over 30 criminal jury trials to verdict. He served as Team Lead in the General Trial Unit, was one of two attorneys in San Diego County prosecuting Drug DUI cases, and worked in the Special Prosecution Unit handling fatal traffic collision cases and high-profile misdemeanors.

James brings extensive courtroom experience from both prosecution and civil plaintiff work. Outside the courtroom he coaches mock trial for Crawford High School and E3 Civics High School. He is admitted to the California State Bar.
