William Johnston

William W. "Bill" Johnston, Esq. is a Lead Trial Attorney at Loncar Lyon Jenkins with a distinguished career spanning public service, federal prosecution, and high-stakes litigation. He served as an Assistant United States Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice for 14 years, leading several high-profile prosecutions.

Johnston's notable prosecutions include the Branch Davidian Cult case, the federal aspect of the Kenneth McDuff serial killer case, and three Nation's Top 15 Fugitive cases, alongside extensive medical malpractice defense and civil rights litigation. He was named one of the 20 Most Interesting and Influential Texans by Texas Monthly. His career has been featured in Prosecuting Evil with Kelly Siegler (Matt Baker case), the True Crime Reporter Podcast (Kenneth McDuff case with Senator Ted Lyon), the Fox Nation special Freed to Kill, and Texas Monthly's article 'The Case of the Persecuted Prosecutor.'

Johnston is also a Captain in the United States Army Reserve and is fluent in English and Spanish.

He earned his J.D. from Baylor University School of Law and his B.S. in Business Management from Texas A&M University. He is admitted to the State Bar of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
