Daniel S. Robinson is a shareholder partner at Robinson Calcagnie, Inc., where he focuses on civil litigation involving consumer rights, products liability, and environmental contamination. Proven verdicts and settlements
An $800 million settlement from MGM Resorts International resolved claims by more than 4,400 plaintiffs over the October 1, 2017 Route 91 Harvest Festival mass shooting in Las Vegas, one of the largest victim-compensation settlements in U.S. history.
In early 2014, Biomet agreed to pay at least $56 million to settle about 1,000 federal lawsuits over its M2a 38 and M2a Magnum metal-on-metal hip implants, consolidated in the Northern District of Indiana. Qualifying patients who had the device revised received a base award of $200,000, adjusted by individual factors. Thomas Anapol was court-appointed Co-Lead Counsel with W. Mark Lanier and signed the agreement for the Plaintiffs' Executive Committee. The figure covers many unrelated plaintiffs, is a reported minimum rather than a final total, and is not itemized by person.
On December 12, 2025, a Los Angeles Superior Court jury awarded Deborah Schultz and her husband Albert $22 million after finding that decades of using Johnson's Baby Powder caused her ovarian cancer. The jury found Johnson & Johnson liable for negligence, failure to warn and concealing asbestos risk in its talc products, but declined to award punitive damages. The verdict came in the first bellwether trial of California's coordinated talc litigation, which also awarded a second plaintiff, Monica Kent, $18 million in a case tried alongside the Schultzes'. Dan Robinson of Robinson Calcagnie tried the case for the plaintiffs with Andy Birchfield of Beasley Allen; Johnson & Johnson has said it will appeal.
