An Orange County jury awarded $310 million to the parents of Tyre Sampson, the 14-year-old who fell to his death from the Orlando FreeFall drop tower at ICON Park in 2022, in a case tried by Kimberly Wald and Michael Haggard against ride manufacturer Funtime Handels GmbH, which sent no lawyer or representative to the trial, leaving collection of the judgment from the absent Austrian company uncertain.

A Miami-Dade jury awarded $104.4 million against pool pump manufacturer Sta-Rite Industries for a 14-year-old boy left with catastrophic brain damage after pool drain suction held him underwater for about twelve minutes, a verdict won by Michael Haggard, Andrew Haggard, and Robert Parks in 2003 but reversed on appeal the following year, and the case never produced a second public verdict.

A Miami-Dade jury awarded $102.7 million against shopping center owner Report Investment Corporation for the shooting that left Sami Barrak a ventilator-dependent quadriplegic in the parking lot outside Tootsie's Cabaret, a negligent security verdict tried by Michael Haggard that settled about a week later for the $26 million in total available insurance limits.

Lilia Torres died in July 2015 of hemorrhagic shock hours after a cesarean delivery at a Broward County hospital, after her obstetric team failed to work up and plan for the placenta complications her chart had flagged months earlier. The doctors involved conceded negligence and causation before trial, leaving a jury to decide only what the loss was worth to her husband and four children. In April 2019, after a two-day damages trial, the jury returned a $24.5 million award, itemised among the husband and each child. Yaimi Guevara Machado was locked out of her room at the Chesapeake Motel in Hialeah in the early hours of April 10, 2016, and the front desk refused to let her back in. Motel security had already been warned about an intoxicated man who was not a registered guest, Ronald Lopez Andrade, after he harassed a housekeeper, and left him on the property anyway. Machado was killed soon afterward, and her body was found in a grassy area on the motel grounds. A Miami-Dade jury awarded her parents $12 million against the motel's owner, The Waves of Hialeah, Inc., on December 1, 2017, assigning her no share of the fault. Florida's Third District Court of Appeal affirmed the verdict in full on February 19, 2020, rejecting the motel's challenges to excluded evidence and to a directed verdict that cleared her companion of any share of blame.

Bobby Hopkins Jr. was shot and killed at a Gainesville car wash in May 2021, four months after another man had been shot dead at or just outside the same lot. The owner, Kokomo Key Properties, Inc., had put no cameras, fence or gate on the property in between. An Alachua County jury found the company negligent in December 2023 and awarded $3,750,000 to each of Hopkins' two children plus $9,000 in funeral costs, $7,509,000 in all, while assigning Hopkins himself 25 percent of the fault. Florida's comparative negligence statute cuts the recovery by that share, leaving about $5.63 million, and the First District Court of Appeal affirmed per curiam on October 24, 2025.
