Douglas McCarron

Douglas McCarron is a trial lawyer with deep experience in negligent security, road construction, pool drowning, dram shop, and auto accident cases. He began his career as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County, trying more than 50 cases in the Career Criminal Unit before moving to plaintiff's work in 2000. He joined The Haggard Law Firm in 2006, became a partner in 2007, and has since recovered over 400 million dollars in verdicts and settlements for his clients. In 2024 he secured a 28.9 million dollar settlement in a negligent security case involving the shooting of a teenager in Delray Beach, a landmark result obtained after Florida's HB 837 tort reform took effect.

His other results include an 8 million dollar jury verdict for the Garcia family in a negligent security wrongful death case against an apartment complex, and a 10 million dollar settlement in 2020 for a client shot and paralyzed at a complex with a long history of violence and no security. He served as President of the Miami-Dade Trial Lawyers Association in 2013, was appointed by the Florida Supreme Court to the Civil Standard Jury Instructions Committee, and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Born in Atlantic City, he was raised in Miami and earned both his undergraduate and law degrees with honors from Florida State University.
