Tom has represented counties, cities, and other government entities in litigation stemming from the nationwide prescription opioid epidemic Currently pursuing claims on behalf of individuals against the makers of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists weight loss drugs Tom Rottinghaus has practiced civil litigation in Kansas City for 22 years. For the first 15 years of his career, Tom’s practice primarily focused on the representation of one of the nation's largest hospital systems, representing hospitals and health care providers in professional negligence cases and commercial litigation. More recently, Tom’s practice has expanded to include representation of individuals, businesses, and local governments in mass actions pending in courts across the United States. Tom is currently involved in the representation of several businesses in litigation against a large insurance company alleging improper denial of claims relating to COVID-19.

Recently, Tom was involved with a team of lawyers pursuing plaintiffs’ claims through fact discovery against a drug distributor in cases pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. In re: National Prescription Opiate Litigation, MDL No. 2804. Tom is also working with a leadership team in the prosecution of nationwide claims against a leading manufacturer of vena cava filters in California. Tom and his firm have also been involved in the prosecution and administration of thousands of product liability claims against several pelvic mesh manufacturers throughout the country in recent years. Tom has tried cases in various state and federal courts across the country. He has been consistently recognized by his peers in legal publications as one of the top attorneys in Missouri and Kansas for his litigation work over the last 10 years.
