Doris Cheng

Doris Cheng is a Shareholder at Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger (Walkup Personal Injury Lawyers) in San Francisco, where she represents plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and product liability matters.

Cheng earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with a Creative Writing emphasis from the University of California, Davis in 1994 and her Juris Doctor with distinction from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1998. She is admitted to practice in California, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Notable case results include a $15 million verdict for a brain injury caused by a delayed stroke diagnosis, a $19 million settlement for a wrongful death involving a defective fuel line, a $19 million settlement for a child crushed by a defective gate, and a $9 million award for a severely disabled child in a wrongful life action.

Cheng has been ranked among the top 10 lawyers in Northern California, named to Best Lawyers in America (2010-present, Lawyer of the Year 2017), Super Lawyers (2010-present), and the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers. She served as the 106th President of the Bar Association of San Francisco.
