About Ray Nichols

Ray Nichols grew up on a farm in East Texas and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1990 to 1993, including service in the F.A.S.T. Company and Marine Corps Security Force Battalion Pacific (honorable discharge). He earned his B.A. in Sociology and Criminal Justice cum laude from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1996 and his J.D. from the University of Tulsa College of Law, graduating in the top quarter of his class.

He was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2000 and has since been admitted to U.S. Federal District Courts for the Northern, Southern, and Eastern Districts of Texas and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals (2010). He also obtained a Texas Peace Officer License in 2015. Over a 24-year legal career he has tried more than 33 jury trials and 23 bench trials in civil and criminal matters.
