Michael Cogan

Michael P. Cogan is a founding partner of Cogan & Power, P.C. and has practiced personal injury and medical malpractice law in Chicago for over 40 years, entering private practice in 1983 after working at the general counsel's office of Michael Reese Hospital. Over the course of his career he has secured verdicts and settlements exceeding $220 million for his clients. Notable results include a $15.182 million verdict for a lung cancer misdiagnosis, an $11.4 million settlement for a patient left a ventilator-dependent quadriplegic after spinal surgery, and a $7 million settlement for permanent back pain caused by spinal surgery. Cogan holds an AV peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized by Illinois Super Lawyers. He serves as an adjunct professor and member of the Board of Visitors at UIC John Marshall Law School and has volunteered with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services since 1986.
