Thomas Murphy

Thomas H. Murphy is a partner at Cogan & Power, P.C. who joined the firm in July 2014. He has represented victims of negligence and medical malpractice since 2003, recovering over $230 million in verdicts and settlements. Before joining the plaintiffs' bar, he worked as a civil defense attorney representing hospitals and physicians in medical malpractice cases, experience he draws on when building cases for injured clients.

Notable results include a $30 million settlement for a child who suffered severe brain injury during labor and delivery and a $10 million settlement for a child whose cancer was misdiagnosed. Murphy has been recognized by Super Lawyers since 2018 and by the Leading Lawyers peer selection program since 2015. He serves as co-chair of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Medical Negligence Committee as of 2023.
