James Edwards

James C. Edwards is an associate attorney at Cogan & Power, P.C. He joined the firm as a law clerk in March 2021 during his second year of law school and was sworn into the Illinois Bar in November 2022. His practice covers FELA claims, medical malpractice, motor vehicle accidents, and personal injury matters. He secured a $6.25 million verdict for a patient whose ophthalmologist implanted an incorrect cataract lens, causing prolonged vision complications. Edwards graduated summa cum laude from the University of Oregon in 2016 with a B.S. in Political Science and Gender Studies, then earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Law in 2022, where he served as Presiding Barrister of the Trial Advocacy Board and a senior editor of The Decisive Utterance. He serves on the boards of two nonprofits supporting incarcerated youth education and re-entry programs for formerly incarcerated individuals.
