About Kevin Buchanan

Kevin D. Buchanan is an attorney at Davis, Bethune and Jones. A Kansas City native whose father is an attorney, Buchanan spent summers working at his father's law firm from an early age. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from New York University in 2015 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2018, where he graduated on the Dean's List and served as a Note and Comment Editor on the Missouri Law Review and as a member of the Board of Advocates. During law school he clerked at a defense firm and interned with the Honorable Gary D. Witt of the Western District of Missouri Court of Appeals.

He is a member of Phi Delta Phi and the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys. His practice covers personal injury, products liability, premises liability, commercial litigation, auto accidents, tractor-trailer litigation, medical malpractice, and class action work. He is a member of the Missouri Bar and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.

A St. Louis jury awarded $28 million in compensatory damages and $149 million in punitive damages to Shannon Dugan, a New Jersey sheriff's deputy who was sexually assaulted by a Hyatt security guard who used his master key to enter her hotel room while she slept. The Missouri Court of Appeals affirmed the full award in December 2024.
