About Dylan Russell
Dylan B. Russell is a partner at Sorrels Law and an accomplished trial and appellate attorney. He has been Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2017, one of only about 400 Texas attorneys holding that certification, and was recertified in 2022. In his appellate practice he has presented 31 oral arguments in state and federal appellate courts, including five arguments to the Supreme Court of Texas and six to the Fifth Circuit, and since 2015 has had 12 petitions granted by the Supreme Court of Texas. His notable appellate wins include USA Lending Group v. Winstead PC and Mosaic Baybrook One v. Cessor in the Texas Supreme Court and a 2025 Fifth Circuit reversal in Golden Bear Insurance Co. v. 34th S&S, LLC involving an improperly dismissed Stowers claim.
He has tried cases first chair in Harris, Fort Bend, and Montgomery Counties and appeared pro hac vice in Florida, Missouri, New York, Connecticut, and Oklahoma. A former professional saxophonist, he earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996 and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2003, where he was Articles Editor of the South Texas Law Review.
