Jim Rensimer

Jim Rensimer is a trial lawyer at Sorrels Law who has directed litigation and trial strategy across the spectrum of wrongful death, personal injury, and business lawsuits. He started his career with a small law firm, advanced to partner at a larger firm, and then managed his own law firm for 15 years before joining Sorrels Law. His practice covers drunk driving crashes, workplace accidents, construction and demolition accidents, dangerous property conditions, consumer protection, and business and insurance disputes. As second chair he helped win a $13.6 million verdict in a 2006 wrongful death lawsuit against an alcohol provider and a drunk driver, and he co-authored the 2002 practice guide Dram Shop and Liquor Liability.

His other results include a six-figure arbitration award in a 2013 gross negligence case involving a demolition contractor and a directed verdict in October 2024. He earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987, his J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law in 1996, and a Master of Professional Studies in Cyber Policy and Risk Analysis from Utica College in 2018. He has been recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer and is admitted in all Texas state courts and the Southern and Northern Districts of Texas.
