Stephanie Black

Stephanie Black is a trial attorney at Gray Ritter Graham concentrating on catastrophic injury cases, including FELA and railroad-related matters. She graduated summa cum laude from Southeast Missouri State University in 2008 and earned her J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2012, where she served as President of the Trial Team and received the Best Advocate Award at a trial competition in Chicago. She launched her legal career as an Assistant State's Attorney in Madison County, Illinois, earning recognition as Rookie of the Year in 2012. Before joining GRG she secured a $18.75 million verdict in Carroll County, Illinois, in June 2023 for a railroad switchman who suffered a leg amputation, and an $864,500 verdict in Cook County, Illinois, in October 2022 for a locomotive engineer injured at a hazardous crew change point.

She was an integral member of the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee in litigation arising from the June 2022 Amtrak collision near Mendon, Missouri, which resulted in 150 injuries and four fatalities. She is recognized in Best Lawyers in America for Personal Injury Litigation (2026), is a former President of the Women Lawyers' Association of Greater St. Louis, and serves on the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys Board of Governors. She joined Gray Ritter Graham in January 2025 and is licensed in Illinois and Missouri.
