Jay Rice

Jay J. Rice is a founding partner and managing partner of Nagel Rice LLP, which he co-founded with Bruce Nagel in 1983. He is a Certified Civil Trial Attorney with extensive trial experience in state and federal courts throughout New Jersey and New York. Rice has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in complex litigation spanning business disputes, class actions, mass torts, securities, and professional malpractice. He has argued landmark cases before the New Jersey Supreme Court and has served as a lecturer for continuing legal education programs and authored legal publications on equity procedures and environmental law.

He served on the New Jersey District Ethics Committee and the Lawyer Editorial Board. Rice was selected as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation in 2013 and has been included in New Jersey Super Lawyers Top 100 lists continuously since 2007, including Top 10 recognition in 2012. Notable results include a $16.5 million settlement in the Kaprun ski train fire case involving 155 deaths and an $11 million estate litigation settlement.
