About Cory Rothbort

Cory J. Rothbort is a member of Mazie Slater Katz & Freeman and is certified as a Civil Trial Attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court, a distinction held by fewer than 3% of practicing attorneys in New Jersey. He graduated cum laude from Rutgers University, where he was a four-year member of the Mock Trial Association, and earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law with a Concentration in Litigation and Dispute Resolution. He is admitted in New Jersey, New York, and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Before joining the firm, Rothbort clerked for the Honorable Heidi Willis Currier, J.S.C., in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Middlesex Vicinage, and worked at an insurance defense firm. He focuses on personal injury, medical malpractice, car accidents, products liability, school bullying, discrimination, and civil rights litigation.

Results include a $10 million civil rights and police brutality settlement in Xavier Ingram v. Camden County, a $4.9 million commercial truck injury settlement, and a $500,000 jury verdict in a motor vehicle accident. He serves as Secretary of the Essex County Bar Association and Co-Chair of the Advocacy Committee of the Jewish Bar Association, has been elected to serve as President of the Essex County Bar Association beginning in 2029, and received the Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year award from the Essex County Bar Association in 2019. The NJ Law Journal recognized him with a New Leader of the Bar award in 2024. He has been listed on the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list from 2018 through 2026 and named to the Lawdragon 500 X Next Generation list in 2025.
